Bill Helm, AOBTA® Certified Instructor Bill Helm is the Director of the Taoist Sanctuary of San Diego and Senior Faculty at Eastern Medicinal Therapies Education Center. An ordained Taoist Priest, Bill has been studying Chinese martial and healing arts since 1965. He specializes in Taijiquan, Tuina Chinese Bodywork, Qi Gong and Herbal Medicine. Bill is a 20th generation Indoor Disciple of Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang and holds a 6th Duan Wei from Chinese Wushu Association.
Bill has also studied with Taijiquan Master Chen Xiaoxing, Master Chen Zhiquang, Master Ren Guangyi and Master Chen Bing. Bill travels periodically to Chen Village for focused practice of Chen Style Taijiquan. He studied Traditional Chinese Medicine in China at the Shanghai College of Medicine and the Beijing Olympic Training Center, and in the United States with Taoist Master Share K. Lew and Dr. Yu Da Fang.

Tuina for Reproductive Health: Kidney Tonification and Prostatitis

Friday Course description: This workshop focuses on reproductive system disorders commonly experienced by individuals with prostates, particularly Kidney Deficiency and Prostatitis, from a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective. Participants will learn Tuina techniques to enhance kidney function, support reproductive vitality, and relieve prostate-related discomfort. The workshop includes a combination of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize key symptoms of reproductive system disorders including Kidney Deficiency and Prostatitis.
2. Explain TCM Zang Fu Organ Theory related to reproductive health.
3. Perform Kidney Tonification Tuina techniques to strengthen the Kidney system and support reproductive function.
4. Apply Tuina methods for Prostatitis to improve circulation and reduce inflammation.
5. Discuss the anatomy and pathology of the reproductive system from both Western and TCM perspectives.

Tuina for Reproductive Health: PMS and Dysmenorrhea
Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday Course Description: This workshop focuses on two common menstrual cycle-related conditions: PMS and Dysmenorrhea. Participants will explore the energetic imbalances that contribute to pain and emotional fluctuations, and will learn Tuina techniques for promoting smooth Qi and Blood circulation and balancing the reproductive system. Students will then have the opportunity for supervised practice, allowing them to refine their skills and gain confidence in applying these techniques in clinical settings. Course material can be used in your practice immediately.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Identify TCM patterns associated with PMS and Dysmenorrhea.
2. Explain reproductive health patterns through both Western and TCM perspectives.
3. Perform palpation methods to assess Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis.
4. Apply Tuina techniques to support emotional regulation and relieve PMS symptoms.
5. Implement Tuina protocols for Dysmenorrhea to regulate flow and alleviate pain.

Sunday Course Description: This workshop covers Tuina techniques for pregnancy support and menopause symptom management. Participants will learn safe and effective Tuina applications to relieve pregnancy discomfort and prepare for labor, as well as techniques to ease menopausal transitions by balancing hormonal and energetic shifts.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Understand TCM perspectives on pregnancy care and menopause.
2. Perform Tuina techniques to support pregnancy and relieve discomfort.
3. Recognize contraindications for Tuina during pregnancy.

Medical Qi Gong for Healthcare Professionals: Taoist Energy Healing 1
Monday, June 2, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The class will focus upon learning specific Qi Gong exercises for strengthening the qi energy field and developing qi sensitivity in the hands for energetic healing applications. Students will learn how to energetically balance the Three Dan Tians, Arm and Leg Channels, and the Du and Ren Channels. The protocols can be used as an adjunct to Asian Bodywork Therapy methods or as a complete energetic treatment.
This class will be focused upon developing sensitivity and abilities to perceive and direct the Qi energy flow in the practitioners body and in the clients body. Taoist Energy Healing or Medical Qi Gong is an ancient practice that has a specific set of Nei Gung exercises which will be taught in the class. We will learn specific protocols for balancing the Dan Tians (Energy Centers), Arm and Leg Channels and the Du and Ren Channels.
